Therapeutic horse-riding
This type of therapy is so much more than simply riding a horse. Therapeutic horse riding is the use of horses and equine- assisted activities in order to achieve goals that enhance physical, emotional, social, cognitive, behavioural and educational skills for people who have disabilities.
It has a positive impact with anxiety and stress related conditions. It not only focuses on the therapeutic riding skills but also the development of a relationship between horse and rider. therapeutic horse riding has been recognised globally as a very successful therapy as well as being a healthy and fun activity.
Stable
Management
The aim of these sessions is to provide participants with an insight into the care and management of the horse. The emotional benefit of this activity can be very effective.
Stable managements is ground work so the ability to be able to ride a horse is not necessary. This session is an effective way of building trust and confidence in people of all ages and abilities. Learning about the horse's behaviour and body language will increase the level of trust around the horses. Weekly sessions usually last one hour are overseen by one of our qualified staff.
Staff
Tina has 10+ years experience working with children and teens with additional needs and is currently facilitating children and teens with equine therapy sessions on a one-to-one basis as well as group activities at the centre & is also currently studying the British Horse Society Horsemanship.
Mike has 20+ years experience of working with horses, incorporating all stable management and care needs of the ponies and horses at the centre and is currently running equine therapy sessions within the centre.
There are additional staff working within the centre for lead reining and side walking during sessions.
